Any member of the public interested in making a deputation to an item listed on the agenda must register by calling 905-615-3200 ext. 7504 or by emailing [email protected] by Monday, April 28, 2025 at 12:00 PM.


Each Deputation to Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee is limited to speaking not more than 10 minutes.
 
Pursuant to Section 57.1 of the Council Procedure By-law 0044-2022, as amended:
Deputations shall be received and the matter shall be referred to staff for a report, unless there is a resolution or recommendation passed to “receive” the Deputation. After a Deputation is completed, Members shall each have one opportunity to make a preamble statement and ask questions to the Deputant(s) or staff for clarification purposes only, and without debate.

Public Questions: Members of the Public that have a question about an item listed on the agenda may pre-register by contacting the Legislative Coordinator at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting . Following the registered speakers, if time permits the Chair will acknowledge members of the public who wish to ask a question about an item listed on the agenda. Virtual participants must pre-register.


Pursuant to Section 58 of the Council Procedure By-law 0044-2022, as amended:


Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee may grant permission to a member of the public to ask a question of Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee, with the following provisions:

  1. Questions may be submitted to the Clerk at least 24 hours prior to the meeting;
  2. A person is limited to two (2) questions and must pertain specific item on the current agenda and the speaker will state which item the question is related to;
  3. The total public question period time is 15 minutes maximum and shall not be extended by the Chair; and
  4. Any response not provided at the meeting will be provided in the format of a written response.

RECOMMENDATION

  1. That Junaid Shah and Mario Matteazzi, Citizen members of the Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee, be authorized to attend the 2025 Ontario Traffic Council Summit, on April 30 to May 2, 2025 in Muskoka, Ontario, and that the costs for registration, and travel of up to $5000 be allocated from the 2025 Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee budget.
  2. That Louise Goegen, Citizen member of the Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee, be authorized to attend the 2025 Ontario Traffic Council (OTC) Summit, on May 2, 2025, in Muskoka, Ontario, where she will be recognized as an Honourary Life Member at the President’s Dinner, and that the costs for mileage and related expenses, not exceeding $600, be allocated from the 2025 Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee budget.
  3. That the Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee members who attend the 2025 Ontario Traffic Council Annual Conference on April 30 to May 2, 2025 report back to the Committee, summarizing the sessions they attended at a future Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee meeting.​

RECOMMENDATION


That the Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee Site Inspection Statistics Report April 2025, be received.


RECOMMEND RECEIPT

Site Inspection Report for the site inspection conducted on April 8, 2025 at intersection of Truscott Drive and Buckby Road, for the students attending St. Helen Catholic Elementary School. 


RECOMMENDATION


That the warrants have not been met for the placement of a school crossing guard in front of St. Helen Catholic Elementary School, at the intersection of Truscott Drive and Buckby Road, for the students attending St. Helen Catholic Elementary School.


RECOMMEND APPROVAL

Site Inspection Report for the site inspections conducted on March 27, 2025 and April 15, 2025 at Burnhamthorpe Road East and Central Parkway East for the students attending Briarwood Public School.


RECOMMENDATION

  1. That the warrants are no longer met for the retention of the two crossing guards at the intersection of Central Parkway East and Burnhamthorpe Road East for the students attending Briarwood Public School and that the two crossing guards to be removed at the end of the 2024 - 2025 school year on June 30, 2025.

  2. That once the recommendation to remove the crossing guards has been adopted by Council, that the Principal of Briarwood Public School be requested to advise all parents and students that two crossing guards at the intersection of Central Parkway East and Burnhamthorpe Road East will be removed permanently at the end of the 2024 - 2025 school year on June 30, 2025.

RECOMMEND APPROVAL

Site Inspection Report for the site inspection conducted on April 1, 2025 at the intersection of Queen Street East and Woodlawn Avenue for the students attending Mentor College.


RECOMMENDATION


That Transportation and Works be requested to:

  1. review the signage on Woodlawn Avenue at the intersection of Queen Street East and Woodlawn Avenue and replace faded signage.
  2. paint ladder markings on Woodlawn Avenue at the south leg of the intersection of Queen Street East and Woodlawn Avenue.

RECOMMEND APPROVAL

Site Inspection Report for the site inspection conducted on April 10, 2025 at the west leg of the intersection of Copenhagen Road and Joliette Crescent for the students attending St. Richard Catholic Elementary School.


RECOMMENDATION

  1. That the warrants have not been met for the placement of a school crossing guard at the west leg of the intersection of Copenhagen Road and Joliette Crescent for the students of St. Richard Catholic Elementary School.
  2. That Transportation and Works be requested to install "no stopping" corner prohibitions on Joliette Crescent, at the west leg of the intersection of Copenhagen Road and Joliette Crescent for the students attending St. Richard Catholic Elementary School.

RECOMMEND APPROVAL

Site Inspection Report for the site inspections conducted on April 16, 2025 and April 24, 2025 at Burnhamthorpe Road East and Central Parkway East for the students attending Divine Mercy Catholic Elementary School and Middlebury Public School.
