A. Casselman introduced J. Brown, who spoke to hackathons, open data, past events, and climate adaptation. 

Rajni Gupta, Supervisor, GIS Data Management spoke to the Sky's the Limit hackathon event.  A. Casselman commented and inquired about the hackathon and R. Gupta responded.

L. Prabaharan and J. Hamilton spoke to the subject matter summarizing the SNAP model, highlighting the Cooksville neighbourhood, milestones, engagement, progress, and next steps.

Committee Members inquired about building capacity and tree plantings and L. Prabaharan responded with information regarding supporting local organizations and J. Hamilton spoke to enhancing and supporting tree growth monitoring.

    That the deputation and associated presentation from LJ Prabaharan, Environmental Outreach Coordinator and Jessica Hamilton, Coordinator, Sustainable Neighbourhoods, Credit Valley Conservation regarding the Cooksville Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan, be received.

L. Barry provided a summary of the October engagement session with the Environmental Action Committee, outlined next steps regarding scenario modeling and action planning, and spoke to the 2019 Climate Change Action Plan.  

T. Chan spoke to the Climate Change Action Plan engagement timeline, phases, and launch of the Climate Lab.

Committee Members engaged in discussion, commenting and inquiring about district energy, retrofitting arenas, white roof low-rise buildings, and lessons from the 2019 Climate Change Action Plan.  In response, L. Barry provided information regarding suitable structures for retrofitting and decarbonization, and opportunities for reducing energy load in facilities.

Dianne Zimmerman, Manager, Environment spoke to the contributions of staff over the past year to the Environmental Action Committee and Councillor Mahoney reflected on and acknowledged the work of staff.

Councillor Mahoney, Chair noted that Committee Members may make a deputation to General Committee as part of the Environmental Action Committee yearly report to Council and interested members were advised to confirm with the Legislative Coordinator.

Councillor Mahoney, Chair spoke to the Youth Climate Corps endorsement request from July 2024 and noted an update will be provided at a future date.
