Subcommittee members spoke to the report and noted concerns as follows:
- parking availability;
- use of the adjacent lane way for parking;
- potential for rental units;
- conversion of garage into living space and requirement for amenities;
- enforcement of street parking;
- legality of rental units and occupancy;
- requested a review of final plans by the Subcommittee.
John Dunlop, Manager, Indigenous Relations, Heritage and Museums provided feedback to the Subcommittee noting the following:
- Provincial regulation around Accessory Residential Units (ASU);
- noted the City of Mississauga's 4-Plex By-law permitting additional units;
- spoke to the application process for additional units on the property through the Zoning and Building department and conformity with heritage guidelines;
- enforcement of parking;
- that the City owns the lane way in question;
- noted egress under the fire code in response to concerns with the number of people residing within the unit; and
- that the application is for exterior work only.
