Carol-Ann Chafe, Chair called the Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting to order at 2:00 PM.

Martha Cameron, Legislative Coordinator recited the Indigenous Land Statement.

That the Accessibility Advisory Committee agenda for February 5, 2024 be approved as amended.

That the Accessibility Advisory Committee draft minutes from December 11, 2023 be approved.

Rachel Young, Mississauga Library Makerspace Assistant presented on Alternative Augmented Communication (AAC) and its multiple uses to aid in communicating for individuals with various cognitive and physical disabilities.  Ms. Young discussed the features of the AAC program, its implementation in the libraries and advised that AAC would be used City wide eventually.

Committee members inquired about the colour contrasting of the various icons, eye control and the use of AI.

Councillor Mahoney and Mary Daniel, Citizen Member advised the Committee that there are no updates.

Dan Sadler, Manager, Standards, Training and Compliance advised Members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee that the Work Plan for 2024 had twelve items outlining various events and anticipated projects and that the work plan would be updated with new projects throughout the year for Committee approval.

Janette Campbell, Accessibility Specialist and Martha Cameron, Legislative Coordinator provided an update on the 20 Year Accessibility Advisory Committee Anniversary planning and spoke to the anticipated budget for the event.

DIRECTION TO STAFF:  Councillor Reid requested that the before and after display photos from the 20 Year Anniversary event be circulated to the libraries in Mississauga.
