Members of the Committee reviewed the car headlight awareness campaign and provided feedback on the options. Catherine Nguyen-Pham, Communications Advisor, responded to the questions asked.

Max Gill, Manager, Traffic Services & Road Safety responded to the following Committee Member’s enquiries: 

  • Council’s direction for staff to report back to Council on community safety zone initiative to expand community safety zone and proposed criteria to identify community safety zones;
  • community safety zone signage that identifies higher fines;
  • how many automated speed cameras does the city have; will the city be purchasing more by the end of 2025;
  • vision zero impact on the province’s decision on road redesign and remove reduced lanes.  

Anne-Marie Hayes suggested social media messaging on how residents can align headlights.

Robert Fluney noted that sign campaigns are having a positive impact, as he has noticed a reduction in collisions based on his towing reports.
