Councillor Fonseca, Vice-Chair recited the Indigenous Land Statement.

Community Incident Response Team (CIRT), Peel Regional Police regarding CIRT's role in crime prevention and community engagement 

J. Hunter spoke to the 2025 outreach events, engagement program plan, highlighting the communication plan of the program, and spoke to the “Train the Trainer” initiative.

Committee members engaged in discussion, commenting and inquiring about:

  • Incorporating awareness for parents and students at trail pop-ups around cycling to school and within neighborhoods
  • Utilizing city assets for advertising programs and events
  • Tree planting events and engagement

J. Hunter and Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation responded with information around advertising on MiWay bus shelters, digital signs at community centres, tree planting events and engagement program.

E. Zhao spoke to the E-scooter pilot program, webinar on E-scooter safety and education, including E-scooter regulations, safety practices, and trail etiquette, alongside engagement events.

Committee members engaged in discussion, commenting and inquiring about:

  • Age requirement for helmet wearing 
  • Website content around E-bike safety 
  • Webinar for Dufferin Catholic School board
  • MiWay student ambassador program - incorporating information on E-scooter road and trail etiquette
  • Education and awareness through University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM)

E. Zhao and Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation responded with information regarding the layout of the City website, E-bike safety, webinar audience, and sharing information through current channels with UTM.

Mark Currie, Citizen Member spoke to the Network and Technical Subcommittee meeting with staff on the Cycling Master Plan progress and prototype for the refreshed cycling map.

Catherine Nguyen-Pham, Communications Advisor noted that the 2024 Phil Green Recognition Award presentation is scheduled for the May 28, 2025 Council meeting.
