Rahul Mehta, Active Living Specialist, Peel Multicultural Council spoke to the 2024 Winter Cycling Congress held in Edmonton, Alberta.

Jacqueline Hunter, Transportation Demand Management Coordinator, Active Transportation spoke to the Cycling Outreach Program for 2024.

Committee Members engaged in discussion commenting and inquiring on topics, such as:

  • Exploring partnerships
  • Dates and routes for the Bike Challenge
  • Community engagement and outreach

Direction was provided to Active Transportation staff to report back to the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee on the community rides series and programming by Q4.

Furthermore, direction was given to Active Transportation staff to consider presenting the BikeFest and Library Bike Workshops programming to the Mississauga School Traffic Safety Action Committee.

  • Solutions to address the bike lane separation on Confederation Parkway, such as reconstruction
  • Proactive enforcement 
  • Prioritizing critical locations, such as Confederation Parkway for the Cycling Master Plan update

Direction was provided to Active Transportation staff to report back to the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee once the status of the loop on Confederation Parkway is determined.

Mark Currie, Citizen Member noted that the Mississauga Cycling Network and Technical Subcommittee met with the consultants from WSP and the priority is to focus on validating the existing network alongside determining how the Network and Technical Subcommittee can contribute to the process.
