Greg Frew, Storm Drainage Engineer, advised that a golf course architect assisted staff to maintain the heritage characteristics and that the goal is to improve playability of the course; however, if this is in opposition to the heritage characteristics staff can forego this change and review their drawings. Mr. Frew stated this is a good environmental project and confirmed an environmental assessment was completed. Construction will commence mid-October, and the course will re-open in the spring with nine holes until the sod has established itself in the construction area.
Councillor Carlson, Chair, asked that staff make the environmental assessment report be made available to the Environmental Action Committee.
John Dunlop, Manager, Heritage Planning and Indigenous Relations, advised the concern is its proximity to the creek and with the establishment of the two bridges, the hole may need relocation a little further from the creek.
