Councillor Fonseca spoke to the November 2020 Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee minutes and that the reported number of kilometres achieved in the report card was incorrect and an updated chart was provided to General Committee on November 18, 2020.

Mr. Ruta spoke to pervious Tour de Carassuga Rides and that the festival still wants to plan a safe ride for the event. Mr. Ruta spoke to organizing a ride separate from the festival to celebrate diversity and culture and for pavilions to celebrate the riders.

Councillor Fonseca spoke to promoting cycling, the festival, a potential date for the ride and direction was given to staff to bring back more information to the April MCAC meeting. Sunil Sharma, Citizen Member enquired about the cost of the ride, a maximum number of riders and the timeline for the ride. Kris Hammel, Citizen Member spoke to offering food for riders and partnering with the organization Mississauga Cycles.

Mr. Ruta responded to questions and spoke to a potential sponsor and Provincial guidelines.

Dorothy Tomiuk, Resident spoke to item 8.1 and enquired about the status and timelines for the safety audit report, what locations would be included in the report and creating a committee action list. Neal Smith, Project Manager, Regional of Peel spoke to cycling incidents on Regional roads and that the matters are still under review. Councillor Fonseca spoke to a safety audit report and pedestrian safety at the Region of Peel and City of Mississauga intersections.

Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation noted that staff are aiming for the February MCAC meeting to bring back a report on City wide trends at intersections.

Mr. Sharma spoke to the Phil Green Award being presented at the General Committee meeting on January 27, 2021. Suzanne Doyle, Citizen Member spoke to the items that were provided by the City of Mississauga for the award.

Councillor Fonseca spoke to appointing a new Chair for the Subcommittee.  

Suzanne Doyle, Citizen Member nominated Paulina Pedziqiatr to be Chair of the Communications and Promotions Subcommittee. Ms. Pedziqiatr accepted the nomination. 

Members of the Committee spoke to a sponsor for the Phil Green Award and a plaque for the award.

Councillor Fonseca spoke to the excellent submissions received by the attendees of the Bike Summit.

Earl Close, Citizen Member spoke to the need for connecting the cycling network with transit infrastructure.

Members of the Committee spoke to a bike sharing program for connectivity between municipalities, corporate sponsorships, building a bike share program, using bike maps for data collection for enhanced road safety regarding Vision Zero, and for the open data initiative to be brought back to future meeting for discussion.

Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation spoke to eScooters, micromobility and best practices of other municipalities.

Ms. Parker spoke to the memorandum dated January 7, 2021 entitled Transportation & Works Bicycle Parking Program.

Members of the Committee spoke to locations of additional bike parking, the Pingstreet App, the bike valet program, upgrading current bike parking locations, parking at transit locations, parking locations at schools and for bike parking to be built into current Apps.

Ms Parker and Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation responded to questions and spoke to bike parking locations and the event program process.
