Mayor Crombie called the meeting to order at 9:34AM.

“We acknowledge the lands which constitute the present-day City of Mississauga as being part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy the Huron-Wendat and Wyandotte Nations. We recognize these peoples and their ancestors as peoples who inhabited these lands since time immemorial. The City of Mississauga is home to many global Indigenous Peoples.


As a municipality, the City of Mississauga is actively working towards reconciliation by confronting our past and our present, providing space for Indigenous peoples within their territory, to recognize and uphold their Treaty Rights and to support Indigenous Peoples. We formally recognize the Anishinaabe origins of our name and continue to make Mississauga a safe space for all Indigenous peoples.”

Ms. Lichterman presented an overview on the updated 2023 Budget Timelines.

Members of the Committee spoke to the matter and raised questions and concerns regarding aligning with the Regional Budget timeline, historical and predicted revenue columns, fees rounding up or down to the dollar amount. Ms. Lichterman and Jodi Robillos, Commissioner of Community Services responded to questions from the Committee.

Members of the Committee spoke to the matter and raised questions and concerns regarding fare evasion, senior and youth fares and comparator rates. Geoff Marinoff, Director of Transit and Geoff Wright, Commissioner of Transportation and Works responded to questions from the Committee.

DIRECTION to staff was given to benchmark with the City of Toronto and to report back on the option and impact of providing $1 all day senior fares and free youth fares.

    3.     4. That User Fees and Charges By-law 0247-2021, as amended, be repealed effective at the end of December 31, 2022.
    5. That a new consolidated user fees and charges by-law, effective January 1, 2023, which
      will include the approved fees and charges of various City departments, be enacted to incorporate and establish the new, revised, and existing Recreation program fees and rental rates, with the exception of the golf fees as outlined in Appendix 1, Appendix 3 and Appendix 5 of the Corporate Report dated, October 7, 2022 from the Commissioner of Community Services entitled "2023 Recreation Programs Fees and Rental Rates."
