Councillor Mahoney, Chair called the meeting to order at 9:31AM.

Councillor Mahoney, Chair recited the Indigenous Land Statement.

That the June 4, 2024 Environmental Action Committee Agenda be approved, as presented.

That the May 7, 2024 Environmental Action Committee Minutes, be approved.

Yasser Ismail, Supervisor, Energy Programs and Utilities Management and Sumeet Jhingan, Manager, Energy Management & HVAC Maintenance spoke to the 5 Year Energy Conservation Plan (2024 – 2028).

Councillor Mahoney, Chair inquired about the fleet conversion in parks equipment and Sumeet Jhingan, Manager, Energy Management & HVAC Maintenance noted the partners in Recreation, Parks and Forestry are working towards electrifying the fleet, including the deployment of electric Zambonis on ice rinks.

Councillor Mahoney, Chair inquired about the status of solar panels on existing and new buildings and S. Jhingan responded that the first project is being deployed at the Transit Campus located at 975 Central Parkway and expected to result in an estimated 25% reduction in energy use.

Councillor Dasko, Vice-Chair inquired about heat capture and S. Jhingan spoke to the various energy use requirements and methods.

Dianne Zimmerman, Manager, Environment noted eight public EV chargers have been installed at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre.
