Bryana McLaughlin, Senior Coordinator, Capital Projects, Credit Valley Conservation Authority presented to the Committee and discussed the following accessible aspects of the project:
· anti-slip strip locations, trail grades, surfaces and materials;
· entrances to the park, rest and shaded areas throughout, and coloured bike lanes;
· accessible access features to the scenic lookouts and amphitheatres;
· the boardwalk and viewing platform safety features, elevation and slope;
· that the project started in 2016 with an anticipated completion by mid 2025.
Committee Members provided the following comments:
· that plant overgrowth and overhang would be maintained to ensure it does not impede accessibility;
· lighting would adhere to FADS standards and guidelines;
· addressed the location of benches and waste bins;
· signage and QR codes;
· parking locations, accessible space and offshoot parking;
· washroom availability; and
· the provision of dog relieving stations.
Bryana McLaughlin, Senior Coordinator, Capital Projects, Credit Valley Conservation Authority addressed the concern about sufficient parking and washroom facilities and advised that washrooms and parking would be available at Marie Curtis Park with future Lakeview lands having additional facilities and parking.
