Councillor Tedjo, Chair called the meeting to order at 6:02PM.

Councillor Tedjo, Chair recited the Indigenous Land Statement.

That the September 10, 2024 Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee agenda, be approved as presented.

That the June 11, 2024 Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee minutes, be approved.

Simon Chue, Specialist, CRC Programs & Contracts, Region of Peel spoke to the CRC Bicycle Donation Program, highlighting the background of the program and its impact.

Committee Members inquired and discussed topics related to bicycle storage, refurbishing, and partnerships; and S. Chue responded.

Councillor Tedjo, Chair inquired about bike donations from MiWay, and S. Chue responded and Vicki Tran, Citizen Member commented on bike donations from MiWay.

Direction was provided to the Legislative Coordinator to share Simon Chue's contact information with Committee Members via email.

Committee Members inquired and commented on signage on shared cycle tracks, sidewalk conversion to cycle friendly infrastructure, and regional and city jurisdiction over active transportation infrastructure; and F. Sandoval and Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation responded.

Glenn Voakes, Resident inquired about item 7.2 regarding the Cycling Master Plan progress update since June 2024, and Fred Sandoval, Coordinator, Active Transportation responded noting that due to the construction season, more updates are anticipated in the next quarterly update.

Raymond Lau, Project Leader, Engineering, spoke to the Bike Trail Markings at the Waterfront.

Councillor Tedjo, Chair commented on creating consistency for trail users to ensure seamless continuation of trails and additional work needed in residential neighbourhoods with respect to markings.

Moaz Ahmad, Citizen Member inquired about trail marking approaches regarding the Gym Tovie Conservation Area and Brampton-Orangeville Rail Trail; and R. Lau responded.

Committee Members inquired about the frequency of Road Safety Committee meetings and for the opportunity to have two (2) Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee representatives sit on the Road Safety Committee. 

Direction was provided to the Legislative Coordinator to confirm if two (2) Citizen Members from the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee may serve on the Road Safety Committee.

Committee Members inquired and commented on speed of rides, ride cancellation notices, opportunities for learn to ride, and testing infrastructure completions this year; and M. Sweet responded.
