Kristina Martens and Annie Veilleux of ASI Heritage presented on the Cultural Heritage Landscape Project (“CHL”).
Committee Members inquired about adding specific cultural landscapes, heritage neighbourhoods and properties to the Cultural Heritage Landscape Project.
Dave Cook, Vice-Chair expressed concern with the use of social media campaigns regarding CHL designations and inquired whether printed surveys would be delivered to residential neighbourhoods.
Ms. Martens clarified that social media is recommended for interpretation and that designation would not reply solely on that medium.
Paula Wubbenhorst, Heritage Planner provided Committee Members with the link to the Conserving Heritage Landscape project: www.mississauga.ca/CHL. Ms. Wubbenhorst confirmed that the Credit Grove area was reviewed, but it was determined that it did not merit the criteria that Ms. Martens spoke of. Ms. Wubbenhorst stated that the Hiawatha on the Lake and Lakeview areas could be reviewed next time.
Lisa Small, Citizen Member inquired if the heritage properties of early black settlers would be part of the CHL. Matthew Wilkinson, Citizen Member confirmed that Heritage Mississauga has received two plaques for installation commemorating Cedar Park Farm and Solomon Northup.
