    That the property at 3065 Cawthra Road (Ward 3) be designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act for its physical, design, historical, associative and contextual value, as per the Corporate Report from the Commissioner of Community Services, dated July 12, 2024, and that the appropriate City officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto.

Matthew Wilkinson, Citizen Member spoke to the revised borders and set backs in relation to the future evolution of the property and concerns with the set backs for properties on the south side.

John Dunlop, Manager, Indigenous Relations, Heritage and Museums spoke to the impact of development on those properties and noted that the revised Provincial Policy on planning would strengthen heritage considerations on development.  J. Dunlop further spoke to the installation of fences as a buffer.

    That the legal description of the heritage designation by-law 362-82 being the designation of the lands at 5155 Mississauga Road (Ward 11) (the “Subject Property”) be updated to reflect the revised property boundary as per the 2024 subdivision as outlined in the Corporate Report from the Commissioner of Community Services, dated August 6, 2024, and that all necessary by-laws be enacted.

    1. That the resignation email from Richard Collins, Citizen Member dated August 25, 2024 be approved; and
    2. That due to the resignation of Richard Collins, Citizen Member, a vacancy exists on the Heritage Advisory Committee, and that the City Clerk be directed to fill the vacancy in accordance with the Corporate Policy #02-01-01 on Citizen Appointments to Committees, Boards and Authorities.

John Dunlop, Manager, Indigenous Relations, Heritage and Museums spoke to the appeal process in relation to the Heritage Advisory Committee and noted that the revised By-law would be brought to Council on September 11, 2024 which clarifies the location of the heritage attributes on the original 1923 part of the school.

Councillor Stephen Dasko spoke in support of the resolution and upholding of the 1923 part of the school.

Matthew Wilkinson, Citizen Member spoke to the Engagement at Bradley War of 1812 a Living History Event hosted at the Bradley Museum on September 21 and 22, 2024. 

John Dunlop, Manager, Indigenous Relations, Heritage and Museums advised that September 18th would be the fourth and final public meeting for the Streetsville Heritage Conservation District and noted that a special date will be held in November for the Streetsville Heritage Conservation District matter to come to the Heritage Advisory Committee.
