“We acknowledge the lands which constitute the present-day City of Mississauga as being part of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy the Huron-Wendat and Wyandotte Nations. We recognize these peoples and their ancestors as peoples who inhabited these lands since time immemorial. The City of Mississauga is home to many global Indigenous Peoples.


As a municipality, the City of Mississauga is actively working towards reconciliation by confronting our past and our present, providing space for Indigenous peoples within their territory, to recognize and uphold their Treaty Rights and to support Indigenous Peoples. We formally recognize the Anishinaabe origins of our name and continue to make Mississauga a safe space for all Indigenous peoples.”

Subcommittee members discussed their concerns with the height and location of the fence as well as materials that would be used and its impact on the heritage characteristics of the district.  

Staff advised the Subcommittee that they would work with the owner on the design, height and materials used for the privacy fence.

  • RECOMMENDATIONMVHCD-0010-2023

    That the memorandum from John Dunlop, Manager, Heritage Planning & Indigenous Relations, entitled “Request to Alter a Heritage Designated Property at 7035 Old Mill Lane (Ward 11),” dated June 19, 2023, be approved on the condition that the fence height be reduced to 6' along the property line and 4' in height off the side of the house with lattice work and that the owner would consult with staff on the design of the fence.

Subcommittee Members inquired about the status of the guide rail installation along Second Line West and Willow Lane and inquired if these projects would be combined.  Staff informed the Subcommittee that they would be two separate projects.
