Councillor Saito, Chair recited the Indigenous Land Statement

Councillor Saito requested that an item be added to the agenda the Committee Report from the Road Safety Promotional Subcommittee 

Jennifer Wang, Resident provided a presentation on Technological Innovations in Road Safety IYZ. Ms. Wang spoke to The Vision, The Problem, The Solution, How it Works, The Product, Service Plan,  Integrated Platform, Web-based Dashboard and the Business Model.

Members of the Committee engaged in discussion and inquired about the console's functions, operation and its purpose. Ms. Wang responded to the Committee's inquiries.

DIRECTION: To be referred to the Transportation and Works Department staff for review and comment.

Catherine Nguyen-Pham, Communications Advisor provided a presentation regarding Speeding Consequences & Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.  Ms. Nguyen-Pham spoke the campaigns Overview, Project Goals, Communication Goals, Tactics, Creative, Mobile Signs, Social Media, Social Media Polls and the Vision Zero Video.

Members of the Committee inquired about the various statistical numbers regarding social media polls, the Vision Zero Video accuracy, and made suggestions for future videos. Ms. Nguyen-Pham and Councillor Saito responded to the Committee's inquires. 

Council Saito advised the Committee Members that next month Erica Warsh, Project Leader, Vision Zero will be presenting the Vision Zero survey results and spoke to the possibility of having the consultant group, from the Region of Peel present the Vision Task Force Survey results at the next meeting.

Councillor Saito spoke to the Road Safety Promotional Subcommittee Report and the recommendations.

Anna Phillips, Citizen Member provided a brief overview to the Committee regarding the RSPS meeting and discussed the items.

Sunil Sharma, Citizen Member inquired about the campaign and prize money and suggested other prizes. Councillor Saito responded to Mr. Sharma's inquiry.  Mr. Sharma advised the Committee of the promotional giveaway inventory that he has on hand from past events.

Colin Patterson, Supervisor, Road Safety spoke to the road safety lawn signs, supply availability, re-design, distribution and will confirm with Transportation and Works the dates for Public Works Week.

    2. That the Road Safety Promotional Subcommittee be granted authorization from the Road Safety Committee to make final decisions regarding design work and promotional items on Road Safety campaigns when time is a factor and/or for events where promotional items can be distributed.

Thomas Barakat, Senior Policy Advisor, Ontario Good Roads Association spoke to the Good Roads event and provided the date. Councillor Saito suggested that Mr. Barakat get in touch with Erica Warsh, Project Leader, Vision Zero for collaboration.

Councillor Saito provided an update on the Region of Peel round table discussion with the Province and will provide details at a later date.

Constable Clauida D'Amico, Peel Region Police provided the number of driver complaints in 2021 through the on-line portal.

Councillor Saito inquired about Road Watch reminder tweets, Ms. D'Amico responded to Councillor Saito's inqury.

Anna Phillips, Citizen Member requested a comparison chart for 2020-2021 driving complaints. Ms. D'Amico to provide the comparison chart at that the next meeting.

Councillor Saito requested to include the stats from the previous month to use as a comparison with the current month stats.

Sunil Sharma, Citizen Member inquired about speed limit changes and public notice of those changes. Colin Patterson, Supervisor, Road Safety responded to the inquiry and will report back to the Committee.

    That the verbal update by Constable Claudia Wells, Peel Regional Police with respect to the Road Watch Statistics Program, be received.
