Alex Legrain, Project Leader Transportation Planning, and Susan Tanabe, Manager, Transportation planning presented an update on The Changing Lanes Project, Mr. Legrain discussed the Project Objectives and Process, What are Complete Streets, Engagement Process, What we've heard (so far), and a Phase 3 Sneak Peek.

Suzanne Doyle, Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee Representative expressed concern with regards to the safety of cyclists and inquired if the diagram was a final implementation or an idea and if Active Transport would be involved in the process. Mr. Legrain responded that it was only a diagram and would be providing example guidelines on the design of the cycling facilities, dooring, and safety of cyclists in phase three and that Active Transportation staff will be integrated with the project.

Sunil Sharma, Citizen Member inquired if there would be any reduction to the speed limit. Mr. Legrain responded there are no plans to reduce the speed limit through this project, however that is within scope for another staff initiative that's ongoing. Colin Patterson, Supervisor Road Safety advised that the Traffic Operations group is leading a project to update the speed limit policy and will bring a report back to Council in the fall.

Catherine Nguyen-Pham, Communications Coordinator, provided a presentation on Let's Move Mississauga, its Goals, Creative, Tactics, Measurement, Mobile Signs, Social Media, and Social Media Comments.

Councillor Saito expressed concerns on behalf of the Traffic Safety Council Chair Peter Westbrook regarding access to the certificate from mobile devices, timing of signage posting, certificate availability after the event, and to arrange a follow-up meeting of the joint committee Promotional Subcommittee and the Traffic Safety Council to discuss all of the issues.

Councillor Saito spoke to the issue of the black & white signage and noted going forward all of the campaign Curbex signs will be in full colour.

Suzanne Doyle inquired about the design and the changes. Catherine Nguyen-Pham Communications Coordinator and Councillor Saito responded to Suzanne Doyle's inquiry.

Constable Claudia Wells, Peel Regional Police provided an update on Road Watch Statistics; driving complaint portal numbers, high traffic compliant areas, project noise maker, and stats for the month of May. 

Members of the Committee inquired about the first letter vs. the second letter process, and the noise maker compliant process.

Constable Claudia Wells responded to the Committee's inquiries and explained the process. 

Councillor Dasko inquired about social media messaging for Council Members. Councillor Saito inquired about combining the Road Watch and Noise Maker Program graphic logo to share with Members of Council, the Road Safety Committee and social media. It was noted that Catherine Nguyen Pham, Erica Warsh and Constable Claudia Wells are to work collectively on it. 

Direction:  For staff to look into designing a graphic logo pertaining to the Road Watch and Project Noise Maker for Members of Council and the Road Safety Committee to use for social media messaging.
