Question 1
Has there been any investigation done, will there be any investigation done on head
start signals (leading pedestrian intervals) to consider the risks for cyclists and
pedestrians, and will the City consider no right on red.
Councillor Tedjo responded that a pilot project has been implemented across 20
intersections with the intention to make it safer for pedestrians to get a head start. Sam
Rogers, Director, Infrastructure Planning & Engineering Services responded that there
are 20 as a pilot with 200 to be rolled out. Mr. Rogers noted that at the next meeting a
full Vision Zero update will be presented along with team member from the Traffic
Signals Team to provide further details.
Moaz Ahmad, Committee Member asked the following question(s):
Question 1
Is there is a plan for pilot projects to be implemented in each ward regarding leading pedestrian intervals (LPI) and no right turn on red and to report back with updates. Sam Rogers, Director, Infrastructure Planning & Engineering Services responded to the enquiry and noted that a member from the traffic signal team will attend the next meeting to speak to the detailed implementation plan.

Is there consideration for a stop gap measure at smaller intersections particularly with the right on red and enquired about the user green and the cross rides.
Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation responded that here is a threshold in terms of intersection geometry and traffic volume and moving forward changes will be made to implement more on a wider scale and noted that the Vision Zero and Traffic Signalling team will report back at the next meeting regarding leading bicycle and pedestrian intervals.
Nada Tijanic, Resident, asked the following question(s):

How is the City going to help residents adapt to the changes of the bicycle centred lifestyle?
Matthew Sweet, Manager, Active Transportation highlighted a few programs, services, library workshops and education that the City offers.
Question 2
Will there be any By-laws to increase parking for bikes at shopping centres, schools,
residential buildings, churches or other places along with storage or in residence parking
and along Bloor Street? What about covered parking for bikes? Is that meant to replace
the parents that drop them off?
Councillor Tedjo responded that new developments are required to provide more parking
for bikes. Councillor Fonseca responded that there are a number of proposed
applications for along Bloor Street that include the requirements.
Councillor Fonseca spoke to a collaboration with Traffic Safety Council regarding the
Bike to school initiative with the school boards and a partnership with Peel Safety Village
which provides cycling education to families. Councillor Fonseca also spoke to the
partnership with Mississauga Tourism Board and other business that participant in bike
parking at the work place.
Matthew Sweet, Manager, responded that larger scale insulation or covered parking is
under review. Councillor Fonseca responded that it's a combination of educating and
encouraging families to have their kids ride to school and spoke to numerous biking
campaigns and business collaborations.

that's City run and maintained.
