We formally recognize the Anishinaabe origins of our name and continue to make Mississauga a safe space for all Indigenous peoples.”

Dan Sadler, Supervisor Accessibility to present

Dan Sadler, Supervisor Accessibility presented the Multi-Year Plan to the Committee and highlighted the evolution of accessibility and the key outcomes of the Committee as well as highlighting past accomplishments for 2018-2022 and various goals going forward in regard to equitable customer service, digitally inclusive communication and inclusive employment as well as accessible movement and design of public spaces and facilities.

Committee members requested clarification regarding the Provincial Standards and were advised by staff that the Province is not changing the name of the standards but how they are structuring the multi-year accessibility plan and that the city is following suite but going above and beyond the standards as a municipality.

Accessibility Staff will provide a brief verbal update with respect to the Accessibility For Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Dan Sadler, Supervisor Accessibility advised the Committee that the Province has reviewed the AODA standards and an interim report has been released which would be reviewed by Rich Donovan and that insights would be shared at the ONAP meeting.  Staff would provide the Committee more information when available.
