Katherine Morton, Manager, Planning Strategies and Eniber Cabrera, Development Planner provided an overview of the Off-street Parking Regulations Update and Report on Engagement.
Committee Members engaged in discussion and enquired about precinct justifications, parking evaluations, and noted concerns with the reduction of parking and relying on on-street parking. Ms. Morton and Ms. Cabrera responded to questions and Andrew Whittemore, Commissioner, Planning and Building advised that planning staff would follow-up with the committee members concerns and report back in the first quarter of 2022.
Councillor D. Damerla arrived at 2:12 PM.
The following persons spoke:
- Patrick Lazzara, Resident noted concerns with the reduction of parking and requested that staff review updated parking regulations based on the Covid 19 pandemic.
- Brennan Bempong, Resident noted concerns with the reduction of parking and requested that staff review alternatives for public parking such as partnerships with the school boards and parking at community centres.
- Jonathan Giggs, Resident noted concerns with parking minimums and enquired about how many parking spaces exist in Mississauga.
Ms. Morton and Mr. Whittemore responded to questions.
