Eniber Cabrera, Supervisor Data Service and initiatives provided an overview of the 2023 Employment Survey and Business Profile
In response to Councillor Horneck’s enquiry regarding capturing job increases to the footprint of the employers, Eniber Cabrera, Supervisor Data Service and initiatives advised that the survey did not ask for details of footprint; however, there is data available showing what sectors and the number of employees that are predominately working remotely.
In response to Councillor Butt’s enquiry regarding tracking the number of people who live and work in Mississauga and the number of residents who have left the city due to the unaffordability to work and live in Mississauga, Eniber Cabrera, Supervisor Data Service and initiatives, advised that there the survey does not capture where employees live; however, some information could be captured through the Census results of generic locations where residents work.
Councillor Butt commented on future reports including more data relating to living and working in the city.
In response to Councillor Fonseca’s enquiry regarding capturing data from graduate university, college or alumni students on whether they were successful in finding employment and in what sector, and whether they are working and living in the city, Andrew Whittemore, Commissioner, Planning and Building, advised that they can reach out to the schools to work collaboratively on gathering that data.
