    That the recommendations PCHCD-0006-2022 to PCHCD-0007-2022 contained in the Port Credit Heritage Conservation District Subcommittee Report 3 - 2022 dated April 4, 2022, be approved.

Committee members inquired about the following items in regards to the development:

  • traffic mitigation;
  • location of entry and exit points around development;
  • landscape buffer zone plantings and raised patio;
  • maintaining the HCD appearance with centenary trees;
  • location of centenary trees;
  • proposed pedestrian walkway;
  • commend social housing in the development and the public amenities on the east side of the building;
  • request to see a landscape plan; and
  • requirement for a heritage permit.

John Dunlop, Manager Heritage Planning and Indigenous Relations advised the Committee in response to their inquiries as follows:

  • that active transportation would extend down to the lake and north where it stops at some point;
  • planting of centenary trees will take place and continue down to Lakeshore;
  • subject to a requirement of the site plan application the developer must prove how they are linking into the transportation systems;
  • sidewalk requirement of site plan application is to have accessible access that circles entire building on both private and public property;
  • staff can take comments on raised terrace and patio and request for additional landscaping back to urban design team and planning;
  • the landscape design is available on City development website;
  • traffic planning has a multi-layered approach and has taken into consideration the 2020 Old Port Credit HCD, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, access points to the development and would look at traffic calming measures.

    That the Memorandum dated May 6, 2022 from Paul Damaso, Director, Culture Division entitled "Alteration to a Listed Heritage Property adjacent to the Old Port Credit Village Heritage Conservation District:  70 Mississauga Road South (Ward 1) be received for information.

Councillor Parrish inquired about the Grand Highland Golf Course and the Indigenous dig and was advised by staff that consultations would be underway with the Indigenous communities in late summer.

Committee members commended the unveiling of the Joyce Furman plaque installation.

11.1    Rattray Marsh Plaque Commemoration

Dave Cook, Vice Chair moved a motion to have a plaque installed at the Rattray Marsh commemorating the 1974 Council Members and Citizen Members who purchased and conserved the Marsh. Committee members voted to approve the installation of a plaque and discussed potential location and wording as well as signage that would list the Council Members and Citizen Members involved in the conservation as well as the history and images of the day of this purchase.
