Councillor Mahoney announced to the Committee Michelle Sanstra as the new Legislative Coordinator and introduced the two new student reps for PEYA and UTM.

Mr. Holder provided a presentation on the Tree Protection By-Laws Review.

Members of the Committee inquired about the Utility company corporations (Bell and Rogers), implementation, potential push back and fines for violators.

Mr. Holder responded to the Committee's inquires and noted that the Utility Corporations are currently following the rules without resistance and noted that security measures will be instituted. Mr Holder further noted the fine amounts for individual/residential violations for first and subsequent violations as well as fine amounts for Corporation violations.  Mr. Holder also noted that the updated Public and Private Tree By-law will be presented to Council in the fall.

Ms. Chan provided a presentation on the Home Energy Retrofits Program Update.

Brad Bass, Citizen Member spoke to newer technologies that are relatively easy that can make a tremendous dent in the resident green house gas emissions. 

Teresa Chan responded to Brad Bass's inquiry regarding opportunities and newer technologies.

Dayna Obaseki, Legislative Coordinator provided an update on the EAC Work Plan regarding next steps and the inclusion of status indicators, such as Complete or In-Progress.  Ms. Obaseki noted that any questions or concerns can be directed to the Legislative Coordinator.

Dianne Zimmerman, Manager of Environment spoke to the upcoming Urban Agriculture Strategy (UAS) consultation session on September 17, 2021 and noted that the UAS draft plan will be circulated to the Members of the Committee for review and comments.

Pujita Verma, Citizen Member spoke about scheduling an EAC litter clean-up for the month of October and will sent out correspondence shortly.
