Councillor Parrish recited the Indigenous Land Statement.

Councillor Parrish spoke to the current moratorium on issuing new towing licenses. John Domitrovich Manager, Mobile Licensing Enforcement spoke to the licenses expiring at the end of January.

Councillor Parrish went through the Towing and Trucking Subcommittee notes from August 3, 2023.

Jaskaran Sandhu, Citizen Member spoke to the need for yards to park trucks and for City staff and members of the trucking industry to meet and discuss industry demands. John Domitrovich, Manager, Mobile  Licensing Enforcement responded and spoke to zoning matters. Councillor Parrish spoke to benchmarking other municipalities regarding their zoning by-laws.   

Councillors Butt and Mahoney spoke to Enforcement staff reviewing the enforcement of trucks being pulled over to use restroom or grab a coffee.  Mr. Sandhu spoke to truckers being ticketed when they have pulled over. Mr. Domitrovich spoke to complaint based enforcement.

Michael Binczarowski, Citizen Member and Tony Pento, Citizen Member spoke trucks being left on the road and the cost of vehicle seizures to towing companies. Direction was given to staff to benchmark the disposal of vehicle seizures.

Councillor Parrish spoke to the new Minister of Transportation and scheduling a date with the new Minister to discuss provincial regulations for tow operators and tow truck drivers.

Councillor Butt spoke to the Peels Goods Movement Task Force meeting on October 27, 2023 at the Region of Peel.

Tony Pinto, Citizen Member spoke to insurance companies opening up body shops within the Region of Peel. John Domitrovich, Manager, Mobile  Licensing Enforcement  spoke to the City of Mississauga by-law and that it would not be restricted. Councillor Butt spoke to the zoning certificates or zoning occupancy not permitting car repair shops in the same building as an insurance office.
