Martha Cameron, Legislative Coordinator called for Nominations for Chair of the Facility Accessibility Design Subcommittee.

Carol-Ann Chafe, Citizen Member nominated Clement Lowe to be Chair of the Facility Accessibility Design Subcommittee (FADS) and Mr. Lowe accepted this nomination for the term ending November 2026 or until a successor is appointed..

Martha Cameron, Legislative Coordinator read the Indigenous Land Statement.

Paul Quitero, Project Manager, Atria Architects presented on the accessible features of the Richards Memorial Park Sanitary Station renovation to the Subcommittee Members and addressed the accessibility of the parking, washroom and its features, sloping and signage.  The Subcommittee members requested that attention be brought to colour contrasting, signage, accessibility into the washrooms, hand dryers, basin heights and faucets and requested that completed site and floor plans be presented to Subcommittee Members with presentations.

    That the deputation and presentation by Paul Quitero, Project Manager, Atria Architects and Imtiyah Pirmohamed, Project Leader Senior Capital Projects, City of Mississauga on Richards Memorial Park presented to the Facility Accessibility Design Subcommittee on April 24, 2023, be received and that the comments of the Subcommittee be taken into consideration.

Chris Kubbinga, Architect of Thomas Brown Architects presented to the Subcommittee the proposed renovations to both Fire Station 102 and Fire Station 108 to include a universal accessible washroom and its features, accessible access to the building, and barrier free parking.

    That the deputation and presentation by Chris Kubbinga, Architect of Thomas Brown Architect on the Renovation and Addition to Firer Station 102 - 710 Third Street and Fire Station 108 - 2267 Brittania Road to the Facility Accessibility Design Subcommittee on April 24, 2023 be received for information.

Danny Beauchesne and Beibei Yu of Cosburn Giberson Landscape Architects presented on the Zonita Meadows Park Design and the accessible features to include a fully accessible playground and splash pad, accessible walkways and parking, barrier free washrooms, accessible fitness and exercise station, community garden and shade canopy with accessible picnic tables and benches. 

Subcommittee members stated that they are pleased with the accessible features of the park and inquired about the leash free dog zone and watering station, charging stations for wheelchairs, use of QR codes and wayfinding and suggested that staff review the Riverwood Conservancy enabling garden for consideration of the accessible garden planned.
