Councillor Saito, Chair spoke to the addition of Item #7.2 on the agenda and spoke to adding an item under Information Items regarding an update on the Vision Zero Round Table at the Region.

Vikram Hardatt, Transportation Planner and Davis Forsey, Manager from the IBI Group,  provided a presentation on Micro-Mobility Project Phase 1.  They spoke to the Study Scope and Objectives,  System Models, Vehicle Types, Governance Models, Operational Considerations, Evaluation Framework, Potential Service Area and Next Steps.

  • Collision and Injury Data
  • Maintenance
  • Other Micro-Mobility Options

Mr. Hardatt, Mr. Forsey and Mr. Sweet responded to the Committee's inquiries, concerns and comments.

  • Subsidy passes and payment plans are part of the program affordability.
  • Customer base would be those making short trips, one way trips, tourists and transit users
  • Currently determining locations and areas where people use active modes of transportation
  • Preference is to have a docking system(s) in place
  • Accessibility and Accountability will be enforced with compliance efforts through operator and customer
  • Collision and Injury Data will be tracked using metrics, next stage of project implementation
  • Operator/Owner is responsible for re-balancing, re-distributing and maintenance
  • Current focus is on the three modes of micro-mobility, open to possibilities in the future

Councillor Saito, Chair spoke to changing the start time for the January 2022 meeting to allow for a presentation by the Region of Peel on the results of the Road Safety Survey Report.

Councillor Saito also inquired about the timeline regarding a presentation on City Survey responses. Erica Warsh, Project Leader, Vision Zero responded that a presentation would be given in February or March of 2022.

Members of the Committee inquired about scheduling a Promotional Subcommittee meeting in January 2022 to discuss the upcoming spring campaigns, mascot and promotional giveaway items.

Abrar Haq, Citizen Member inquired about the different avenues to report Road Behaviours. Paul Dhillon, Acting Staff Sergeant, Peel Regional Police responded that you can file a report through Road Watch and that other processes are in progress.
